Motor Racing (1900-1909)

Good film of motor racing in France during the 1900s (c. 1905).



Pan across area near starting point of road race with groups of men gathered around cars. MS car with mechanic crew working on it, 1 man using pump. More shots of mechanics working on various cars. Shots of cars being pushed onto starting grid, race officials stand nearby. Car sitting on the track, mechanic cranking to start car, then car drives off. A horse pulls a car up onto the track. Shots of 3 different cars starting one at a time from same point. Cars racing around track, group of nuns watch from behind fence (in distance). The track has low board fences around it and buildings (shops / cafes) over look the track. Man stands on track holding up large flag as cars speed past.
