For most people burnouts (also known as a peel out or power brake) is one of the most annoying and douchebagy thing one could ever do especially if that person is your neighbor. The origins of burnouts can be traced to drag racing and the practical purpose of a burnout is to heat up your tires to a certain temperature prior to a race so it can perform better. But then again there are people who does this solely for kicks, the smell of the burning tire's and the terrifyingly loud sound of the engine excites them.......
