Mortars fly as Clinton visits

At the same time US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton was visiting Jerusalem to advance peace the explosions were continuing in the south of the country. From the early hours of the morning on Wednesday the areas of Eshkol in the south took blows from several rounds of mortars and one rocket as well. During the night, the sirens were wailing throughout the southern city of Ashkelon as a rocket was fired at residents from the Gaza Strip. The Head of Eshkol's Regional Council said, "We were terrified this kind of situation would take place being under the threat of rockets and now the threat is with us." No one was injured in this incident, other regional leaders attributed the escalation to the renewed peace talks taking place between Israel and Palestinians.
