Not sharp, mind you, but incisive,
On rubbery crustacea, caught,
To their embarrassment,
Between divots of sea-fern,
In open-waters, so-to-speak.
A lumber on land, whence I come, and need return
To breed; surprisingly agile underwater,
The sea, the sun-glanced tide my element.
The waters love the shoosh of my bumpers. They reply.
Overhead pass albatross, like boomerang, also in their element.
Secret: ninety percent of flying is falling.
They make it look easy. I admire them
As, hopefully, they do me.
It's a strange feeling, floating, eyes-closed, when
One of their shadows catches you.
But back to me. It's all about me a little once,
Me, no one else, me.
Shot at once, the bullet ticked off my shell-
Twice, the bullet sang kerplunk!
