상반기 세계 관광객 4.4억명↓…작년보다 65% 감소
The number of tourists traveling outside their country slumped more than 65-percent in the first half of 2020 compared to the same period last year.
According to a report by the World Tourism Organization, the pandemic-driven drop has resulted in more than 4-hundred 64 billion U.S. dollars of economic loss.
That's about five times more than the losses caused by the 2008 global financial crisis.
The number of visitors to Northeast Asia, including South Korea, fell nearly 83 percent.
The organization said it would take two-and-a-half to four years for numbers to recover to last year's level, even when travel bans are lifted and vaccines are available.
