MORE COPS AND SCANNERS
Description
Finance Minister Colm Imbert says the government is showing a firm commitment to arresting the crime problem and the illicit flow of drugs and firearms into the country, by not only tripling the ability of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service to recruit a thousand officers next year, but by also awarding a contract to a company for security equipment.
The company is to provide four large-scale scanners at the Port of Spain and Point Lisas ports, to stymie illegal guns and drugs easily slipping into this country.
Mark Bassant has the details.
