'Monkey Christ' becomes a cash cow

It was the face that launched a thousand tweets. The touch-up of the Ecce Homo fresco which was dubbed 'Monkey Christ' has become a money-spinner for the town of Borja in the north-east of Spain.

It has attracted some 40,000 tourists raising around 50,000 euros for charity. The woman responsible for the botch job will earn 49% of the earnings.
