Mongolia hosts military exercise

Armed forces members from 15 countries began a two-week-long military peacekeeping exercise in Mongolia on Sunday (August 12), China's CCTV said.

More than 1,000 soldiers from participating countries, including the United States, Australia, Japan and South Korea, travelled 50km (31 miles) southwest from the capital Ulan Bator for the exercise known as the "Khaan Quest".

The annual exercise, sponsored by the U.S. army, has been hosted by the Mongolian Armed Forces since 2003, the event's official website said.

The Khaan Quest aims to promote information exchange and expertise between the international forces, and to build up the training centre in Mongolia, the "Khaan Quest" website said.
