Monday's market wrap

For your closing market figures,... we go to Europe-- as Wall Street was closed for Presidents' Day.
European shares dipped on Monday in choppy trade,... though shares of steelmakers went up after the U.S. outlined its proposals for hefty import curbs.
In London,... the FTSE 100 was down nearly 50 points at 7,244-point-9,.. and France's CAC 40 finished 25 points lower at 5,255-point-8.
And Germany's DAX slipped 71-points to 12,380.
In Korea,... shares were up on Monday,... taking a cue from last Friday's gains on Wall Street.
The benchmark KOSPI went up over 20 points, or a little less than one-percent to close at 2,442-point-8,.. and the junior bourse KOSDAQ jumped over 3-percent to close at 875-point-8.
The local currency rose against the greenback.
