Description

Knesset Member Shaul Mofaz emerged as the new chairman of Kadima Tuesday night, as the party's sluggish primaries gave way to a change in its leadership. It appears that Mofaz -- who lost the previous Kadima primaries by a narrow margin -- won 62% of the votes, while current Chairwoman Tzipi Livni lagged far behind with 38%. The party stationed 197 ballots across Israel, to serve its 95,000 registered members, but only 45% of the party's members cast their vote. The big question at this point is: what will Livni do next? The incumbent Kadima leader didn't indicate her future plans following Tuesday's loss, only saying she intended to rest.
