Missing plane: supporters defend staff integrity

Flight engineer Mohd Khairul Amri Selamat is one of the passengers aboard missing flight MH370 police are looking into.

He's among the 239 on board whose backgrounds Malaysian investigators are combing through in their search for clues.

But his father Omar says the 29-year-old gave no cause for concern.

"He was very soft, gentle, and he's never shown any odd behaviour."

Malaysian police have searched the home of the captain of the missing plane after it was confirmed the aircraft was deliberately diverted off course.

But a friend of Captain Zahiri Ahmed Shah now living in the U.S. is dismissing any suggestion he would have intentionally harmed the aircraft or those on board.
