Misinformation woes may multiply with ‘deepfake’ videos

"Deepfake" videos that manipulate reality are becoming more sophisticated and realistic due to advances in artificial intelligence, creating a potential for new kinds of misinformation with devastating consequences. Paul Scharre, a technology expert at the Center for a New American Security says, "over the next two years we will see deepfake videos play a role in political campaigns in the United States and Europe."
