Migrant crisis: EU's open borders in question

Even before the current crisis migration was a complex and divisive issue for the European Union. The surge in recent months of vast numbers of people seeking refuge in Europe has merely superheated the debate, with the inadequacies of the EU’s asylum system and policy starkly exposed.

The crisis has also highlighted the weaknesses of the Schengen Agreement and some now question whether the open internal borders concept has a future.

As Europe’s leaders scramble to find a solution Chris Burns gets to the heart of the matter with a panel of three guests reflecting different perspectives on this tragic problem.
