“Mickey” is a 1918 American silent comedy-drama film starring Mabel Normand, directed by F. Richard Jones and James Young. The film follows Mickey, an orphan raised in a mining settlement, who is sent to live with her wealthy aunt in New York. However, her aunt is disappointed by Mickey’s lack of refinement and treats her as a servant. Mickey’s presence sparks a love triangle involving her cousin Elsie and young mining executive Herbert Thornhill. Just as Mickey is sent away, news arrives that she has inherited a fortune, leading to dramatic twists and comedic moments—including a thrilling horse race and a rooftop rescue. The film was a major success and became the highest-grossing film of 1918.
