Description

On 21-22 November,1963, President John F. Kennedy,
and Jackie stayed overnight at the Hotel Texas, Fort Worth.
There was early morning drizzle when JFK went outside
to greet people and give a short speech; there was sunlight.

Inside soon after there was a welcome breakfast sponsored
by members of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce.
The confident MC offered and proffered a stetson there,
and cowboy boots, neither of which JFK would wear.

John F. Kennedy gave a last speech, mixed with humour
and seriousness: 'No one expects that our life will be easy;
certainly not in this decade, perhaps not in this century.'
The Minister prayed: 'May the Lord bless you and keep you.'

The President and his entourage boarded Air Force One
at Carswell Air Force Base, touching down at Love Field,
Dallas, around 11.40 am; there were more well-wishers there,
holding up supportive signs, and the President walked among them.

I noticed the President was wearing a dark suit, pinstriped shirt,
and a check-pattern tie, with a white breast pocket 'kerchief.
Jackie wore a pink outfit with black trim and matching hat.
She was still carrying a bouquet of pink and red roses.

Close to 12 noon I saw President Kennedy get into the rear seat
of a dark blue Lincoln Convertible Limousine, without the bubbletop,
accompanied by Jackie, with John Connally and his wife in front.
The motorcade would take JFK past crowds to the Dallas Trade Mart....
