Michael Philips - The Idiot's Funeral

I only went because I had to.
I knew it would be a circus.
He drove his yellow Porsche down to the lake,
Left his wife lying on the sofa watching TV,
Left his kids playing computers in their rooms,
Went out on the skiff drinking with his buddies.
He should have known it was shallow.
People were wading.
He dove off the boat anyway.
Everyone was in shock
So I didn’t say what I was thinking.
