Before Spirit comes to stay
Before Christ comes to reign
Before God’s Lamb can have His way
The righteous suffer pain

God’s Holy Wind begins to blow
Beneath The Saviour’s feet
He’ll scatter weed and chaff below
He’ll separate the wheat

Rubbish! He gives The Flame to burn
He’ll trample in the dirt
Yet still the chosen wheat will learn
That righteousness can hurt

The truth, is hard to see at first
Through filth, it’s hard to find
Through sin, the eyes of man are cursed
And to God’s ways, are blind

Salvation comes through Christ within
God’s secret things, unfold
But oh; when Jesus takes the sin
We’d love so much to hold

It hurts to lose it hurts to give
It hurts from much to part
It hurts to die, that Christ may live
Inside His servant’s heart

But when The Lord we’ve truly sought
For filth, we’ll have no need
We’ll take each dark, each evil thought
We’ll burn the devil’s weed

We’ll drink in faith God’s precious Dew
Receive His Holy Seal
And though through pain we start anew
In righteousness, we’ll heal….
