Michael Kors' crimson elegance for fall
Description
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: The lifestyles of famous couples like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, John F. Kennedy, Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and others have inspired designer Michael Kors to create a collection full of ruggedly elegant pieces.
Kors said he designed a line full of clothes that reflected how stunning, yet relaxed each pair looked when it came time to dress up.
"It's mixing it with things that are glamorous, so you know, it's wearing bias satin or lace, back to tweed. It's making sure that a beautiful tailored mohair piece can be worn with jeans," said Kors.
Cozy crimson and black tweed kicked off the show and set the tone for the relaxed collection.
Models wearing blanket coats, ponchos, vets and fur walked a wooden plank runway, which help to maintain the rugged theme of the show.
Leather blouses, belts and trim were scattered throughout the collection on both men's and women's wear.
Elegance came in the form of lace and satin, with Kors making sure to preserve the stress-free feeling in his evening looks.
"Whenever we dress people for the red carpet, you know, obviously you want to look sexy, you want to look great, but if you can be comfortable at the same time and actually eat dinner and sit and move, wow, what a shocker. So I love all these kind of easy biasy shapes," Kors told Reuters.
Other looks included 1930s inspired gowns.
Fashion Week ends on Thursday, February 16.
