Michael Johnathon is a folksinger, songwriter, concert performer, author , and playwright who created and hosts the worldwide broadcast of the WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour with a radio audience with over a million listeners each week on over 500 public radio stations, PBS-TV coast-to-coast plus American Forces Radio Network in 173 nations. He also created the world’s first multi-camera weekly music series broadcast on the internet and won the 2006 Stephen Foster Award for Broadcast Excellence. Michael is also a playwright, his play Walden: The Ballad of Thoreau has over 8,000 registered performances in 42 countries and translated into four languages. A film of the play that aired nationwide on PBS stations was one of ten winners of the 2009 John Muir Award for Feature Film.

As a gentle protest to how music is produced and consumed today his latest album, Song Farmer, is unique in that it was recorded on an iPhone 6+ and inside the cabin that Michael Johnathon built instead of recording studio, using special Apoge gear and Ear Trumpet mics. The acoustics are wonderful.

Michael Johnathon won the 2015 Lifetime Achievement award at the Lexington Music Awards and won the 2016 Lexington Music Award in the category of Americana/Folk. He is a true Kenutucky treasure.
