The hush, and rush, of sea:

gulls creak in gulfs of air,
climb against accumulating auguries,
climb and turn, diving through
corridors of thermal blue.

Rising immensities of light,
thoughts locked in waves of two,

the gulls,
the cartwheel, cricket, castle, kite;
the sun crumbling in the bay,
the surf poised on wrinkled gold,
those high, shining faces
turned away -

all these break on tides
inside
the greater world's mentation.
