Mexicans angry over missing students

Thousands of demonstrators marched through the streets of Mexico City Sunday to protest what they call the government's inaction in the missing student teachers case.

43 people were abducted in September by a group of corrupt police in southwestern Mexico.

They were handed over to a drug gang which is suspected of murdering them and burning their bodies.

The handling of the case has drawn massive criticism from the public who say more needs to be done to bring those responsible to justice.

The public was further angered after the Mexican president traveled to China last week.

Critics said the trip proves he cares more about the country's business interests than about curbing violence.

In the past 7 years, some 100,000 people have died in violent acts linked to organised crime.
