Mexican youth protest election frontrunner

Scores of students identified as the "Yo Soy 132" movement demonstrate in the streets of Guadalajara.

With 20 days left until presidential elections, the group is demonstrating against the frontrunning opposition candidate Enrique Pena Neito.

Neito is far ahead in polls and is poised to lead his Institutional Revolutionary Party, which ruled Mexico for much of the 20th century, back to power.

One protester said that the youth movement is not just anti-Nieto but is calling for an end to media bias in the country.

Earlier this week, The Guardian newspaper published allegedly leaked documents which suggest Pena Nieto had paid the country's biggest television channel to make favourable comments about his administration when he was governor of the State of Mexico.

Pena Nieto has denied the claims, saying his governorship was open and transparent.

The protest came just hours before a final national debate amongst candidates.
