Meta Unveils the Quest 3

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta ($META@US), has teased the upcoming release of the company's new virtual reality headset, the Quest 3. Priced from $499, the headset boasts high-resolution color mixed reality and is 40% slimmer than the previous model. It also features three front-facing cameras to enhance user experiences in pass-through mode, where virtual and physical realities merge. The headset, powered by a next-gen Qualcomm chipset, is set to offer improved depth perception and superior gaming graphics. More details will be revealed at Meta's Connect conference on September 27. Meta's ongoing commitment to developing VR and AR technologies for the emerging metaverse is reflected in the significant resources allocated to its Reality Labs unit, despite a first-quarter operating loss of $3.99 billion. Meanwhile, the Quest 2's price will return to its original cost of $299 from June 4.
