Merlin Tuttle Training a Bat
5 Views • Sep 13, 2016
Description
Merlin Tuttle training Malinda the Little big-eared bat (Micronycteris megalotis) to hand feed and come on call in Trinidad. She's one sharp little girl! It only took her about an hour to tame and get this down. Merlin has been training her for a couple nights to come on call to a specific spot on a leaf to catch some of her favorite insects, which happen to be major agricultural pests, for photographs. Merlin only keeps and trains bats for a couple days at a time, releasing them after he's photographed them. He does not recommend ever keeping any bat as a pet.
