Meredith Fahey - Words

Description
And suddenly I want to lay down
Close my eyes and wrap myself
In the sure sweet words of
You, as you recite
Chapters from books
To make me laugh.
You remind me of home, I’m safe
As long as you keep your net of words
Holding me, keeping me connected
To you, to love, to life
It’s all I can do, not
Even breathing, for fear it would break
Whatever fragile sentence
Is tying you to me
In that very moment
Don’t ever stop
Calling me home.
Someday I imagine you reading my poetry
Out loud, for all the world to hear
The poetry of our love, the vow of faith
Making all these frail words concrete
Like a foundation for a home
That can not be washed away by angry words, fighting words
But lasts, through all the words we can say
Except one
Eventually Time will be our undoing
But for now, exhilarate me,
Fling me out to the extent of space with every word you possess
Let us grow intoxicated on excessive, unnecessary words
Because you already know how I feel
Without words.
