Description

Piha iron sand was melted with 2 MOT's in parrallel. Some water was added to trigger the conduction process. Very quickly the sand becomes red hot and forms iron - slug type rods which are fully conductive.
Mains current varies between 7 and 40 Amps at 240 Volts 50 Hz.
The unloaded MOT voltage is 2100 Volts which drops to a couple of 100 Volts at 3 to 4 Amps. The MOT's heat up quickly under those conditions, so the testruns are short to avoid windings burning out.
