the hollowness i feel
isn't quite hollow

sometimes it fills
with loss, grief, and sorrow.

i quench my tears
but i don't know why;

i'm too fragile inside
yet i must stay alive;

to tread on the footprints
i've left behind;

to walk into the past
with something to find;

to gain some control
of whom i've become;

to get out of myself
and not be so glum;

to expunge all the fears
and the scabs still unhealed;

to discover my power
and with it to wield

over myself, and myself alone,
and all my sins forever atone.
