Tui nominee Mel Parsons originally hails from the West Coast of New Zealands South Island, and is a singer-songwriter whose songs speak for themselves. Her sound is defined by mellow, intimate vocals and melodic hooks that have you humming along in no time. Parsons is known for pin-drop performances, encompasing tunes which range from quiet and heartfelt ballads to rolicking country-inspired numbers.
Released in March 2009, Over My Shoulder was a finalist for Folk Album of the Year in the NZ Music Awards, and has been applauded by critics, industry and audiences alike.
