Description

The fleece blanket draped across our bodies
Over our fingers that cautiously traced one another’s
On the dark, chilly bus, taking us away
In the farthest reaches of the shadows of our minds
During our most daring, dangerous exploration
When time was as precious as gold.

Remember.

The song that penetrated the air
When it swept through our very souls like a gentle breeze
On the night we painted with shades of Technicolor
Around the time when the world stopped turning
As we dangled from the most beautiful thread
Now woven into infinity.

Remember.

The deliciously green blades of summer grass
Under skin warm from the virgin sun
Blissfully surrendering to the pale blue sky
As we laid and watched the empty heavens
Revolving around our tiny, insignificant lives
Not so tiny when we were together.

Remember.

The blank, lifeless TV screen across the room
That traded places with us, and watched our scene
Below the silver-streaked, midnight black window
While the breath of our existence collided
With our every effortless motion
Binding our souls eternally.

Remember.

The reddened, whitened tone of my skin
After it wrapped desperately around handfuls of dying grass
In the unfathomable, most terrifying depths of existence
Where I keep my tear-soaked pillows
My dead corsages, my dead feelings
But never my dead memories.

Remember.

You transform, forgetting my life, my heart, my soul.
But always, I remember.
