On April of 2015 the Austin band went into The Bubble studios for the Outside sessions. Just two months before, they had released their debut, Compatible Creature, to a sold out North Door audience and subsequently received airplay on KUT and KGSR with their single, “I Love The Time.”

Whereas Compatible Creature had been the product of lead singer Mariclaire Gamble, her brother Evan, and producer Lars Goransson (The Cardigans, What Made Milwaukee Famous), Outside is a much different project. After finishing the debut album, Gamble assembled the current lineup that is now MCG. The Outside EP, therefore, is the first release of the 5-piece band that has been playing shows together for over a year now, and the maturity of the group is audible in the new recordings.

With the help of producer Chris “Frenchie” Smith (Purple, Leopold and His Fiction, The Toadies) the indie-pop quintet has taken the thrill of their polished live act and successfully printed it on to a 7" and digital download featuring a third bonus track.

The lead track and first single, “Start Over,” elicits 90s dream-pop elements reminiscent of The Cardigans and showcases Mariclaire Gamble's ability to write lyrics that are both personal and accesible.

“Bombs Away” is an explosive rock track about a jilted lover and her aeronautic plan for revenge. Listeners will be taken by Gamble’s vocal range and power in the song’s climax.

Lastly, the title track, “Outside,” is another example of the characteristic openness and vulnerability in Gamble's writing, as the narrator recounts the difficulty of impending change and the stumbling blocks of depression.
