- two tablespoons of vegetable oil \r
- one clove of garlic, crushed \r
- one cup of carrots, chopped \r
- two sticks of celery, chopped \r
- half a cup of lentils \r
- one bay leaf \r
- one tablespoon of freshly-chopped parsely \r
- salt and freshly-ground pepper to taste \r
- two and a quarter cups of vegetable stock or water \r
