Mavreen Rose - Woman

the ability to bake
no matter tasty the cake
or succulent the steak
does not a woman make

the ability to give birth
and maintain a lean girth
from then, now, and henceforth
equates not a woman's worth

the ability to clean
floors to a sparkling sheen
gives not the right to men
for a woman to demean

the ability to pleasure
a man's sexual leisure
never will be a measure
of a woman's prized treasure

the ability to be
who she sees herself to be
to be learned, valued, and free
that's who woman is to me.
