Matthew Leggett - Starlight

Dusk settles, breathes beauty across the unfathomable sky,
Dissolves again to reveal the ever-changing constant of stars,
Their distance matched only by their closeness through my
Darkened window. The silent, unreflective mirror into which so many stares
Have dissipated, falling into nothing as questions are left unanswered,
And prayers left unheard.

Insignificance sprinkles down from stars like snowflakes
To rest upon my shoulders, their bitter cold numbing my heart.
Yet to truly look also brings an inspiration that makes
It all worth while, the chance that we end up back at the start,
Our million specks drawn back to the stars, no longer alone,
Souls finding their way home.
