http://www.alohamassageschool.com in Maui, Hawaii The The Egyptians started practicing massage therapies in 3000 BCE, and were the first on record to use reflexology. The types of massage therapy performed during reflexology relate directly to a specific portion of the body. Reflexology is a massage motion that kneads various body parts. The toes will correlate to the head and neck section of the body. The balls of the feet relate to the chest, shoulder, and lung areas of the body. The medial side of the foot correlates to the spine. The lateral portion of the foot will relate to the hip, leg, knee, lower back, and the arm. A person finds relief when one of these reflex points are massaged and continual massage treatments have produced cures for certain ailments. Some massage techniques will simply return energy to the affected part of the body.
