Description

I'm afraid I am beginning to forget you,
My therapist says that is a good thing,
I would Love to agree; I only wish I could,
That is what I led her to believe,
Maybe because I pay her by the hour,
Money I'd much rather have spent on you,

It is only right I address this now,
Before the sands of time efface you,
I cashed in most of our memories,
For expensive hobbies I indulge in,
To fill in the void that preceded you,
It served to mask a miriad of inadequacies too,

I wish love was not as delicate an affair,
I would buy a band aid and fix you,
We did make an amiable pair,
I am constantly battling with that truth,
I need not say how much that truth hurts,
I know you sport the same shoe,

Re-creating us is growing increasingly tiring,
The bar was set a tad bit too high,
So if all else fails your telephone may ring,
You will definitely remember the guy,
A tattered ego and broken pride may confuse you,
Whatever the outcome; at least now you'll know why
