I can tell you are covering something
Why do you hide what you feel?
Do you think your emotions will disappear?
That you suddenly will heal?
Why won't you open up to me?
Are you afraid it will be a mistake?
I can see on your face you want to share
Is it too great a risk to take?
You've built up a wall in between us
And I'm working at tearing it down;
But it's hard to get past your defenses
You've guarded yourself all around.
You can trust me with your feelings
In my heart they will remain;
So just let yourself surrender
I'll shield you from your pain.
