Mars good on Chocolate

Mars revealed an additional $70 million expansion project to select members of the community. The expanded portion has been operational for about 6 weeks, said Gary Kroot, plant director. The expansion also includes additional Cocoa-bean processing chocolate making and molding lines.

The facility is now 300,000 square feet. About 70 percent of the chocolate is processed in Elizabethtown where they also make Milky Way and 3 Musketeers candy bars. They have created 30 new jobs and 30 more are expected. Mars has just merged with Wm Wrigley Jr. Co. Under the transaction Wrigley shared holders would receive $80 per share from Mars.

Todd Lachman president of Mars Snackfood US would not comment on how Wall Street has affected Mars food, he simply stated, “In todays tough economy , the chocolate category is growing year after year, Our boss is the consumer, not Wall Street”
