Description

As I leafed through the pages of my local rag,
I read of a man who had taken his life.
He had left in his wake a daughter or son,
unto the care of his grieving young wife.

Laid alongside his derelict husk,
was a note to explain his surrender.
'I've been wondering blind in a dark lonely place,
I felt lost and alone and so tender.'

As he succumbed to the deaths cold embrace,
and all sign of lifes labors had drained from his face.
Like smoke from a fire, did his soul float on higher?
Where consciousness takes more advantageous a place.

The flesh conspires against spirit,
such cruel conflict, the reason's unclear.
To harden the heart to the trials of life?
Or cognize what the heart should hold dear?
