Description
and fought to catch a flame.
White coats tried to bring you back,
as your mother called your name.
I thought I might have felt your touch,
as your parting spirit fled.
On your assent, did you look down,
to an angels effigy on the bed?
Your lifeless form before us lye,
natures spite left bitter feeling.
We sat before your guttered glow,
stunned, bereft and reeling.
I never led you to your first steps,
but I still miss your hand in mine,
and never have our eyes both met,
but how I've longed to see them shine.
White wood for your bedclothes,
and the cold earth for your cot.
Though, no life left to remember,
You shall never be forgot.
