Mark Money - Reach

i click the light off
and reach out toward my wife
who is already asleep among the covers and pillows
that make her
comfortable

thinking of words, i turn the light back on
and reach for my pad
secure in the bedside table
invisible to eyes without curiosity

i scribble and wait
for confirmation; for satisfaction

when the words run out, i secure my pad
and reach out toward my wife
who is already asleep to my seeking hand
