Marilyn Lott - Gnarled Trees and Wagon Wheels
2 Views • Nov 07, 2014
Description
Not so long ago
The house was worn and weary
It had lost its luster and its glow
Sadly I took some pictures
And wondered about the folks
That at one time raised their families here
So many thoughts this place evokes
The old barn had seen better days
I could even see some rot
Many animals once had babies here
Some had made it, some had not
I’m sure inside this old home
Many babies here too were born
Perhaps with the help of a neighbor
And now it looked so forlorn
I touched a dried old gnarled tree
Felt the roughness beneath my hand
A swing probably hung from a branch
On this worn and deserted land
An old wagon wheel against a fence
Was so beautiful to me
Ah yes, I loved this old place
With all its mysteries
And as I turned to walk away
It kind of gave me chills
To see an old homestead like this
With gnarled trees and wagon wheels!
