Marilyn Lott - Closer to God

There is nothing that makes me feel
Closer to God than a country scene
A soft and gentle lifestyle
I’ll bet you know what I mean

A string of cows grazing up on a hill
An old homestead full of grace
Hay fields for miles and miles
Worries seem to quickly erase

It’s so quiet you can hear sounds
That you’ve never noticed before
Birds chirping from place to place
As you finish a satisfying chore

Once in awhile you hear the sound
Bringing you back to modern days
An airplane flying by
But of course it never stays

Ah yes, it’s a world I love so much
Standing on warm country sod
Because it always makes me feel
So much closer to God!
