Marilyn Lott - A Far-off Day
4 Views • Jun 14, 2014
Description
It was warm and cozy and held
A family quite a few years ago where
A mom, dad and two kids dwelled
Right smack dab in the middle
Of a fertile field in which
Cattle grazed, crops grew strong
Life went on without a hitch
But as the years went rolling by
The children moved far away
The parents grew old and tired
No animals and no need for hay
For some reason no one seemed
To want to live here any more
Off to the city the children went
No one wanted to do the chores
It’s so sad, don’t you think?
This little house was left alone
To fall apart year after year
Life a skeleton down to the bones
But you know, nothing lasts forever
And this too will fade away
But perhaps another house
Will be built here on a far-off day!
