Marcos refuses more US bases in PH
264 Views • Apr 16, 2024
Description
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. clarifies that his administration does not plan to grant the United States more access to Philippine military bases. The existing US military presence in several sites is due to concerns over China's actions in the South China Sea. This stance aligns with the Biden administration's efforts to strengthen security alliances in the region against China, which supports the Philippines' goal of enhancing its defense in the South China Sea.
