Mara Manzano - When People Change

It may seem bizarre at first, but people do
Change for what is better, seeing it is up to you
What once was happy, a life flaming with fire
Turned into a dark cloud with no more desire

The days when the smile never left your face
Diminished, decreased, then again started the race
Of how to get one’s attention again
Trying to make yourself believe that this is not the end

You then recall on how they were before
How they said they’ll love you forevermore
You tend to not comprehend the dilemma of now
You do your best to ignore but you don’t know how

Seeing them changing just hurts so bad
It keeps you awake at night and make your mornings sad
You try to keep up with how things are going
But all you see is that things are slowly falling

Unable to cope, you decide to change yourself too
Though you still care for the person who was once everything to you
When people change, just believe it is for the better
‘Cause it is, you’ll see, one day it will be clearer.
