Mandela back home
Description
After nearly three months in hospital, South African anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela is discharged.
A medical convoy arrived at his Johannesburg home Sunday, though it was not immediately clear if the former president was inside.
The 95-year-old has repeatedly been hospitalized, most recently for a recurring lung infection from his time in jail under apartheid.
A government statement warned he is still in critical condition and at times unstable.
But some took his release as a sign his condition was improving.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) SOUTH AFRICAN WOMAN SAYING:
"It's everyone's prayer in South Africa that he has to recover, and after such a long time that he's been in the hospital, it's great news and a relief that he's going home."
His home in the upscale Houghton neighbourhood has been outfitted for special care, the presidency said, requesting privacy for the family.
