Malcolm Turnbull Downgrades Aviation Terror Threat After Plot Foiled
1 Views • Aug 03, 2017
Description
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said on August 3 that increased airport security measures would be modified after a plot to blow up an aircraft</a> was foiled.
Turnbull said that the threat level to aviation would be reduced back to “possible,” from “probable,” but a number of security measures would remain.
“Some of them will be obvious to travellers. Some will not.
“But they will be modified in a way that will cause less delays to the travelling public.”
Turnbull said travellers would no longer need to arrive at airports an hour earlier than normal, and could resume arriving an hour before domestic flights and two hours before international flights.
The prime minister said he expected charges to be laid soon against the three suspects arrested on July 29 in Sydney</a> for allegedly plotting to use a bomb hidden in a meat grinder to blow up an airplane.
