Malaysiakini journalist is harassed
Description
July 3, 2013 Kuala Lumpur: Malaysiakini journalist, Rahim Sabri is harassed by officers from the Home Ministry at the screening of controversial film, No Fire Zone, The Killing Fields of Sri Lanka. The documentary was being screened at the Kuala Lumpur Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall when 30 officers from the ministry accompanied by immigration and police personnel attempted to stop the screening ostensibly because it did not comply with Sect 32 and 33 of the Film Censorship Act.
Rahim was on duty at the time when officers wanted him to check his backpack and demanded that he turn on his laptop. When he refused, they threatened him with arrests. The officers relented after protests by other journalists, attendees and a lawyer who was present at the time.
