MAKALA
Description
In the Great Lakes Region of Central Africa, most of the household energy is derived from wood and charcoal obtained by cutting illegally in primary forest zones like the Virungas National Park. Farm sizes are becoming increasingly small and farmers are obtaining additional incomes from charcoal production and selling. The CATALIST/SEW project of IFDC operates in DR Congo, Burundi and Rwanda and supports the professionalisation of the energy sector through woodlot plantations, agroforestry and modern charcoal processing using improved kilns. The video clip announces the upcoming 40 minutes DVD on this topic presented by IFDC and produced by MOOV-ON
