Main Hong Kong protest site reopens
Description
Traffic and order resumed in the Admiralty area of Hong Kong on Friday (December 12) after more than two months of pro-democracy protests.
The area next to the government headquarters had been the heart of the student-led occupation that choked some main areas of the city for weeks.
On Thursday, police arrested over 200 activists and cleared the main highway of barricades and hundreds of tents, though the overall mood remained defiant with some protesters remaining nearby.
The protesters want open nominations in the city's next election for chief executive in 2017.
Beijing has said it will only allow pre-screened candidates.
